App Customization
Customize the FieldEdge mobile app experience for each user type
Every field campaign is different. Different goals, different team members, and different workflows. Optimizing your field tools to match your campaign can be a huge boost in productivity, enabling higher-quality conversations at scale.
To this end, our App Customization features allows for a campaign to customize the app experience for all FieldEdge users of their nation. A different set of Customizations can be applied to each different user type.
App Customizations can be found in the main menu of the FieldEdge HQ Dashboard. Some items require reaching out to support for change.
Switching Between User Types
App Customization settings can be configured independently for each user type. Use the navigation at the top of the App Customization page to switch between:
All β view settings across all user types at once
Default Users β settings for NationBuilder login users
Campaign Managers β settings for HQ Dashboard users
Accountless β settings for users without a NationBuilder account
Select a user type to view and edit its specific configuration. The tables below show default values for each user type side by side.
Menus
Enable or disable the main menus in FieldEdge. For Accountless users, we recommend the People menu remains turned off to prevent full access to your nation. If you would like to enable the People menu for Accountless users, please reach out.

When the People menu is disabled for a user type, an additional toggle appears: Allow users to access full profiles via canvass/call list. Enabling this lets users tap into a contact's full profile from within a canvass walk or call time session, even though the People menu itself is hidden.
Contact Statuses
To streamline outreach entry, Contact Statuses can be enabled/disabled.
NationBuilder provides a static list of Contact Statuses so they cannot be renamed.

Edit Fields
FieldEdge enables the toggling on/off of certain fields when editing a contact.

Changes to Edit Fields are managed by the FieldEdge support team. To request changes, contact [email protected].
Profile Fields
FieldEdge enables the toggling on/off of certain fields on a contact's profile.
A tick indicates turned the option is turned on by default
Donations

Changes to Profile Fields are managed by the FieldEdge support team. To request changes, contact [email protected].
Tags
Customize which tags are highlighted or hidden for each user type. This helps keep profiles clean and draws attention to the most important tags.
Highlight Tags β select up to 5 tags to highlight at the top of contact profiles. Highlighted tags are always visible, making important information easy to spot.
Hide Tags β select up to 10 tags to hide from the user interface entirely. Hidden tags still exist on the contact in NationBuilder but won't be visible in FieldEdge.
To configure tag visibility, go to the Tags tab in App Customization and select the user type you want to configure.
Default Survey
Set the survey that's opened when the user selects "Take Survey" during a canvass. Note the user still has the option to go back and select a different survey.
When a default survey is selected, a Hide all other surveys toggle becomes available. Enabling this prevents users from seeing or selecting any survey other than the designated default during canvass or call time sessions.

Some settings in this section β including Edit Fields, Profile Fields, Field Activity, and Proximity Walk configuration beyond the toggle β are managed by the FieldEdge support team. To request changes, contact [email protected].
Copy Settings
To save time when configuring multiple user types, you can copy customization settings from one user type to another.
Copy a single section β copy just one section's settings (e.g., Contact Statuses) from one user type to another
Copy all settings β copy the entire customization configuration from one user type to another
This is useful when you want most user types to share the same configuration with only minor differences.
