How to Install a Beta APK from FieldEdge via Google Drive


If you're part of our beta testing team or need to install a specific version of the FieldEdge app, you might receive a Google Drive link from FieldEdge Support. This guide will walk you through the steps to download and install the APK file on your Android device.

Preparing Your Device

Before installing the APK, you need to allow your device to install apps from sources other than the Google Play Store.

For Android 8 and Newer (Including Android 11 and 12):

  1. Access Settings: Swipe down and tap the gear icon.

  2. Select 'Biometrics and Security': The name might vary slightly.

  3. Choose 'Install Unknown Apps': You'll see a list of apps.

  4. Pick Your Browser/File Manager: Select the app you'll use for the download.

  5. Enable 'Allow from this Source': Switch it on.

For Android 7 and Earlier:

  1. Open Settings: Swipe down and tap the gear icon.

  2. Navigate to 'Security': It might be under a different name.

  3. Activate 'Unknown Sources': This allows installations from outside the Google Play Store.

Downloading the APK

  1. Open the Google Drive Link: Use the link sent by FieldEdge Support.

  2. Download the APK File: Tap the download button in Google Drive.

Installing the APK

  1. Open File Manager: Go to 'Downloads' or your default download location.

  2. Locate the APK File: Find the downloaded file.

  3. Tap on the APK File: This opens the installation window.

  4. Select 'Install': Follow any additional prompts.


  • Can't Find the APK?: Ensure the file has fully downloaded.

  • Installation Blocked?: Check 'Unknown Sources' settings as described above.

  • App Not Installing?: Ensure enough storage space and remove any existing app versions.
