Filter & Sort

Filter and sort contacts in your canvass, call time, and people lists

FieldEdge provides filtering and sorting options to help you focus on the right contacts during canvass walks, call time sessions, and in the People section.

Accessing Filters

Tap the Filter icon at the top of any contact list to open the filter panel. Available filters may vary depending on whether you're in Canvass, Call Time, or People.

Available Filters

Filter
Description

Support Level

Show contacts with one or more selected support levels (1–5, or Unknown)

Tags

Show contacts (or households) that have at least one of the selected tags

Party / Affiliation

Show contacts belonging to one or more selected parties

Odd/Even

Show only odd or even street numbers β€” useful for splitting a street between canvassers

How Filters Combine

Filters are inclusive β€” they show contacts that match your criteria.

Between different filter types: filters combine with AND logic. A contact must pass every active filter to appear. For example, if you filter by Support Level 1 and Party "Democrat", only contacts who are both strong supporters and registered Democrats will show.

Within a single filter type: selections combine with OR logic. For example, if you select tags "VIP" and "Priority", contacts with either tag will appear. Similarly, selecting Support Levels 1 and 2 shows contacts with either level.

Tag filters work at the household level. If no one in a household matches the selected tags, the entire household is hidden from the list.

Sorting Options

Sorting changes the order contacts are displayed without hiding anyone:

  • Distance β€” nearest contacts first, based on straight-line distance from your current GPS location

  • Name β€” alphabetical by last name

  • Address β€” grouped by street address

Distance is a sort, not a filter β€” it reorders your list by proximity but doesn't remove contacts that are far away. For location-based list building, see Proximity Walk.

Clearing Filters

Tap Clear Filters to remove all active filters and return to the full list.

Filters are applied for the current session only and reset when you start a new walk or call session.
